The MPR Archives invites you to jump into the deep end of the music pool. Of course, this collection includes stories on Minnesota luminaries such as Bob Dylan, Prince, and Replacements; but there is an incredible amount of talent and sounds coming out of the land of 10,000 Lakes. This sampling tries to play homage to those many artists. Test your musical knowledge on the likes of the Hmong group Asian Invasion; transgender artist Venus; North Woods rappers Crew Jones; all-girl garage band The Continental Co-ets; Native American rock musician Jake Reum; throat singer Steve Sklar; or jazz vocalist Roberta Davis. Have fun taking a dip and exploring!
Created in 1987, Mainstreet Radio held a mission of reporting specifically from rural Minnesota to all of Minnesota. With an introductory staff of Rachel Reabe, Leif Enger, and John Biewen, the group developed both long and short form news features as part of MPR Journal and Morning Edition broadcasts. As the years progressed, Mainstreet Radio expanded both in reporter contributions and programming, with memorable work from the likes of Mark Steil and Catherine Winter, amongst others. Beginning in the 1990s, Mainstreet Radio presented a monthly two-hour special, focusing on issues outside the Twin Cities metro. The varied Mainstreet Radio programming ran into the mid-2000s.

Archive presents a selection of numerous stories of Ventura during the campaign, his tenure as governor, and reflections on his legacy after leaving office. Unsurprisingly, it is a lively collection.
